Dr. Luanne Strom
co-owner
Dr. Luanne Strom, DVM, MS has had a lifelong passion for animals and their well-being and is a Colorado native, originally from Ft. Collins. After earning her undergraduate degree at Penn State where she was also a 3-year captain of her DI soccer team, she went on to complete a Master’s degree at Colorado State University and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College, the oldest veterinary school in North America. She then pursued a rotating internship at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital and has spent over a decade working in specialty hospitals where she honed her skills in emergency veterinary medicine.
In her experience as an emergency veterinarian, Dr. Strom witnessed firsthand the critical need for a service that could not only provide urgent transport for animals from their home to a veterinary hospital but could also provide medical care while in transport between hospitals. Inspired by this gap in care, she co-founded Pet Medical Transport (PMT) in May 2022. PMT specializes in urgent transport from an animal’s home to a veterinary hospital as well as the secure transport of animals between hospitals (including those who are intubated or require IV medications and oxygen support). Each vehicle is equipped with lifting devices including gurneys and slings, medical grade continuous flow oxygen and oxygen kennels, SpO2 monitoring, CRI pumps, bandage equipment, warming devices, crash-tested and disinfected crates, and seatbelts. PMT only employs certified veterinary professionals who understand animal behavior, have years of experience in emergency medicine, and provide skilled care during every transport.
After less than a year in business, it became obvious that there was also a need for affordable and compassionate at-home euthanasia service who would transport animals of all sizes after the euthanasia to the crematory and not rely on owners or a separate company for transport. We understand how important an at-home euthanasia can be for the peace and welfare of an animal and their family. Our advanced training ensures a kind and gentle appointment. Dr. Strom is certified by the Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy (CAETA), providing the highest level of care and compassion during this difficult time.
Outside of work, Dr. Strom enjoys hiking, mountain biking, running, and spending time outdoors with her family, her partner, and their 3 dogs, in the Colorado mountains she calls home.
Having multiple animals in the house, I truly believe having the end of life services performed at home, where all animals could also process what was happening, helped them handle the loss much better than I expected them too. The final sniff let them know the end had come.
If in need of these services, I would strongly recommend Dr. Strom for her professionalism and compassion.
